Changemakers Certificate

Woman at desk, head down working collaboratively

The Centre for Community Partnerships launched the Changemakers Certificate program this year to allow students to participate in a real-world social action that is personally meaningful. Participants explored existing social movements and Toronto-based examples of grassroots organizing and movement-building.

Certificate content is built upon four consistent elements:

  • Reflection on personal identities and experiences.
  • Examination of current social movements.
  • Exploration of diverse tactics.
  • Inspiration from social justice activists (speaker videos).

Critical hope theory was woven into and throughout the program to ensure that students found balance between working for change and finding and expressing hope for a more just world.

Objective: 1.4

Offer experiential learning opportunities that empower students to be civically and socially engaged in diverse local and global communities.
