Student Life IT Wellness Program, SharePoint Automatic Sync & Tech Tuesdays Training Channel

Launched in 2023, the Student Life IT Wellness Program has now successfully completed two years, reflecting the commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive and human-centered workplace.

The first cohort of Wellness Ambassadors graduated in 2024 and provided monthly wellness supports and resources to the IT team, working closely with the Senior Integrated Wellness Consultant within Health & Well-Being Programs & Services at the Division of People Strategy, Equity & Culture.

This initiative has not only advanced staff well-being but also aligned with Student Life’s broader goals of embedding equity, care and inclusivity into everyday practices.

By prioritizing cultural transformation alongside technical innovation, Student Life IT demonstrates how its mission to deliver collaborative, innovative, cost-effective and secure technology services with a humanistic mindset translates into lived experience for staff and students.

The team continues to pursue operational excellence and innovation through projects that directly improve both staff effectiveness and student support.

The Automatic Synchronization of User Permissions in SharePoint ensures that access management is secure, efficient and equitable by automatically updating permissions whenever staff membership changes in the Student Life user directory. This innovation reduces administrative burden and strengthens governance, with future expansion planned for new SharePoint sites and Power BI workspaces.

The launch of Tech Tuesdays created a dedicated IT training channel for the Student Life community. Designed in tandem with the IT Strategic Plan, this channel provides staff with deeper insight into IT initiatives, explains the value of new solutions, and builds digital literacy across the division.

Together, these initiatives demonstrate how the IT Strategic Plan is more than a roadmap for technology — it is a commitment to advancing staff engagement, professional development, and well-being in alignment with Student Life’s Goal 5: building a student-centric campus community rooted in equity, care, and innovation.

Objective: 5.5

Commit to and practice equitable and inclusive recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention, and offboarding practices that look to increase the diversity among our staff complement at all levels, in particular, representation from Indigenous, Black, racialized communities, and people with disabilities.
