Navi Update
In the 2024-2025 academic year, Navi improved students’ navigation of U of T programs and services by expanding the chatbot’s reach to the UTSC and UTM campuses.
In 2023–2024, UTSG students made up the majority of Navi users. However, in 2024–2025, usage across all three campuses closely aligned with overall student enrolment distribution. This shift reflects the success of expanded outreach efforts, aggressive promotional initiatives (increased over 40% from previous year), and the impactful work of Work Study students at UTM and UTSC in driving awareness and adoption.
International students were also targeted for new Navi initiatives in the 2024-2025 academic year. International students particularly benefit from being introduced to the chatbot early, as it allows them to engage with U of T resources before arriving on campus.
It also provides a supportive, low-pressure environment for those who may feel hesitant to seek assistance in person. This was achieved through Navi incorporation in international incoming student summer newsletters and making refinements to the Centre for International Experience conversation flows. This can be measured by Navi’s spike in usage in June 2025.
