Indigenous Learning Sub-Committee

In 2023/24, with guidance by the Indigenous Learning Strategist, the CLSS Indigenous Learning Sub-Committee continued to evolve and develop.

Regular Indigenous Learning PD events were facilitated by and for CLSS staff members, which included reflective learning on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Talking Circles in which staff reflect on team goals and tensions as we continue to decolonize both our learning and the student curriculum, reflections on Indigenous Academic Integrity, based on the work of Keeta Gladue, and others.

This work also contributes to the ongoing Indigenous Learning programming for students – the Sweetgrass series, Orange Shirt Day, a Critical Reading Event and the ongoing embedded learning strategy work on-location at First Nations House.

Objective: 5.1

Commit to understanding the truth of the history and continual oppression of Indigenous peoples, which includes recognizing the role and responsibility of settlers, and take active steps to continue the process of reconciliation.
