Staff EDIA Needs/Barrier assessment

The Staff EDIA Advisory Group drafted and reviewed a short questionnaire: “Interest in Staff EDIA Learning Opportunities” which was disseminated to all staff at the end of summer 2024. With a strong staff response, the questionnaire collected great insights and feedback on potential opportunities.

This feedback informed the implementation of more opportunities for SL staff to engage, such as a spotlight on institutional offices like the SGDO and hosting the OII to hold a workshop on Indigenous Allyship for staff.

The Manager, EDI and Manager, Analysis & Assessment both hired Work Study students to assist in the development of a survey and focus group to gather insights on staff awareness, access and utilization of EDIA and assessment resources and/or practices within their work environments. In April 2025, the Work Study students completed a report on the project trying to assess EDIA engagement in Student Life.

The team also met with leadership of every SL unit between October 2024 and January 2025 to get a leadership perspective on if/how they define their EDIA and Truth & Reconciliation priorities, the barriers that impact work within those priorities and opportunities for bidirectional knowledge sharing and support.
