SAGE & ISA Indigenous Student Symposium

The SAGE (Supporting Aboriginal Graduate Enhancement) & ISA (Indigenous Student Association) Indigenous Student Symposium was a student-led initiative featuring panels on topics of language revitalization, Indigenous governance, as well as artists talks and arts-based workshops.

The event brought together students, faculty and community members to explore themes related to Indigenous resurgence and liberation. The aim of this event was to give Indigenous students an opportunity to gain experience presenting within a symposium setting, while gaining access to feedback from emerging Indigenous scholars.

The symposium was the product of several months of planning and co-creation between SAGE, Indigenous graduate students and members of the Indigenous Student Association.

The symposium had around 50 attendees over the course of the day, including students, faculty, staff and community members. It received positive feedback from attendees and had a high attendance rate from those registered, including students from across the University and various faculties. Non-Indigenous students also attended and provided positive feedback on the content of the presentations and the creativity of the day’s programming.

The event took place on March 1, 2025, and was held at the Multi Faith Centre.
