Making Effective Referrals

The Making Effective Referrals e-course was developed as a response to the shift to online Residence Life staff training during COVID. This adaptation enabled continued training while opening up new opportunities to reach a broader range of student leaders.

This year, we expanded the module to include Joint Orientation Leader Training (JOLT). In total, the module has equipped more than1,450 student leaders — including Residence Life staff, Represent Institute attendees, orientation leaders and student colleagues — with the skills to confidently make effective referrals to campus resources.

As we continue to adapt this platform, we look forward to further broadening access to mentors, club leaders and other campus organizations, reaching even more students and enhancing campus-wide support
