Dream Job Academy 10 Year Anniversary
Dream Job Academy (DJA) is an award-winning, arts-based, experiential learning program designed to increase students’ self-knowledge, self-awareness and self-efficacy as they engage in career exploration. Through arts-based facilitation and methods, the curriculum supports students in developing a self-directed, non-linear approach to career development, encouraging them to engage in a lifelong reflective practice to support their evolving career identities.
This year, DJA celebrated its 10-year anniversary of using creative expression and appreciation as a tool for career learning.
Thinking about all the big and small details made it feel like I was actually touching my dream.
DJA offered an opportunity for participants to fully express themselves, particularly aspects not easily shared with words, often leading to new discoveries that otherwise may remain hidden. The arts-based learning created a space where the universal and the particular of individual experiences were revealed, helping participants to connect their inner selves to the world in which they live, deepening their understanding of others.
In celebrating a successful 10 years, DJA continued to offer a deeply meaningful experience for participants through expanded and additional opportunities to participate in two, full-day experiences in 2024. After participating in the summer 2024 DJA program, one student remarked that,
“I never felt like I was close to my dream job before, but this diorama and thinking about all the big and small details made it feel like I was actually touching my dream.”
